Lenny Dykstra, major league outfielder for the Mets and Phillies and Terri, wife of 23 years, are involved in divorce proceedings. The Dykstras have been struggling with a number of financial issues recently according to a variety of sources and it doesn’t take a lot of insight to guess that those financial issues had an impact on the marriage.

Terri is seeking joint custody of the couple’s 13-year-old son.

In addition to the family’s primary residence, they also own an $18 million Lake Sherwood, California home which is facing possible foreclosure. They are over $400,000 behind on the mortgage for the residence.

In addition to the potential mortgage default, Lenny Dykstra is facing other financial issues. There are claims for pilots’ and maintenance fees for a trip; $12,000 for a charter flight, almost $300,000 for printing services for a magazine Dykstra publishes, a $1 million contract claim over website design, over $200,000 in private jet maintenance fees, a defaulted $250,000 personal loan, $400,000 in back real estate taxes and even unpaid wages to his own brother.

Lenny Dykstra’s divorce may involve a division of the debts instead of any assets.

Tyrese Gibson, who is definitely NOT a struggling artist, requested a prenuptial agreement before his marriage to Norma Mitchell 10 months ago. If the prenup is valid, Norma won’t be getting much. Norma, naturally, is contesting the validity of the agreement.

According to the terms of the prenuptial agreement, Norma has no claim to any property and she won’t get half of Tyrese’s assets earned during the marriage. It is also important to know that any assets owned by Tyrese before the marriage isn’t considered community property anyway.

Apparently the prenup provides Norma with a lump sum of $50,000 for every year the Gibsons were married, up to 10 years. Since the two didn’t even make it to a year there is a question whether the $50,000 could be adjusted for the 10 months they were married.

It is reported that Tyrese Gibson made about $1,000,000 last year. Norma had no income but stayed at home with the couple’s young child. Tyrese currently pays temporary child support of $6,230 a month plus Norma’s rent and car payment which total another $3,500 a month.

I can only hope that they are going to negotiate a settlement that considers the best for the child. Tyrese could certainly do better for his child than a single payment and a good-bye, and Norma better not assume that she’s going to get a penny more if she fights the prenuptial agreement!

The case is set for trial in August.

Kate Walsh's Divorce Gets Ugly

It looks like the divorce for Kate Walsh and Alex Young is getting ugly, even though the couple was only married for 10 months, according to TMZ.

Alex is claiming that accounting firm London & Co. is refusing to release a full accounting of all joint assets. Young says a month before they got married back in 2007, they bought a multi-million dollar house together and furnished it with expensive stuff.

In California, and without a prenuptial agreement, it doesn’t matter who made the money, who is seeking the divorce or why. Both parties are required by law to give a full accounting and “disclose” all Community Assets. So the fact that Kate made the lion’s share of the down payment really doesn’t matter. Also there’s probably not much value there considering the house has gone down in value since they bought it — so there is no equity to split. Also not important is the fact that Alex walked out on Kate…

Also according to TMZ Kate is now requesting a trial date, which is not always a good sign for settlement purposes.

Considering the state of our economy and the fact that the major asset is probably not worth that much the Parties should truly consider negotiation AND maybe a prenuptial agreement next time.  I always like the see the Parties work out their differences instead of fighting it out in court…

Robyn Gibson has filed a Petition for Dissolution requesting a divorce from Mel Gibson last Thursday. They were married for 28 years – which nearly sets a record for celebrity marriages! Because California is a no fault state and she doesn’t have to specify her reasons for the divorce, we are unsure why Ms. Gibson filed.

Even more shocking than a divorce after 28 years: there is no Pre Nup and it is estimated that Mel is worth 900 Million! Wow! Without the Pre Nup Robyn Gibson may have a shot at the entire 900 Million.

The Gibsons have 7 children but only one, Tom, is a minor. For initial documents, it is also surprising to me that Robyn Gibson is requesting joint physical and legal custody of Tom, whereas the party filing generally tends to check the box for sole legal and sole physical custody, so this can be a good sign that the two of them might get through this without a battle.

Robyn is also asking for spousal support and attorneys fees.

Robyn lists the date of separation as “TBD.”  However, in Mel Gibson’s recent response he listed the date of separation in March of 2006…. This is extremely important considering the date of Separation means A LOT in terms of termination of Spousal Support, division of assets, etc…

A little celebrity divorce gossip from sin city….

Recently the Nevada governor Jim Gibbons, who is engaged in a divorce, was accused of sending one woman over 860 text messages from a state issued cell phone and having “relations” with a former Playboy model who is the ex wife of Reno’s mayor.

Wow!  Governor Gibbons apologized for all of the text messages and actually reimbursed the state $130.00, stating that the text messages were not “love notes’. However, no apology has been made for the extracurricular relations, so we’ll assume that he is denying that unproven accusation.

This definitely has the makings of an extremely nasty and messy divorce proceedings!  This is really no surprise or shock for anything that occurs in sin city….
